Our Teachers

All of our teachers are highly skilled, loving, fun & silly musicians and parents, who are passionate about music and who look forward to making music with you and your children!

They each create a fun, informal, social setting that inspires interest and supports each child's musical development.

Janet holds a B.A. in Vocal Music and Dance and was a professional jazz vocalist, as well as a music/movement specialist in NYC public schools for 11 years. She is the mom of two professional musicians and one competitive collegiate figure skater, as well as the Grandmom of two talented Music Together alumni! Janet will retire once she is thanked by a former student on the Grammys :)

photo Kelly Grant

is a registered (and VERY popular!) Music Together Instructor, who has been a part of our family - for ten years! - teaching at both our former, Snug Harbor and Forest Avenue locations, as well as our current Watchogue Rd. studio. Kelly is also the instructor for our classes at the Manor Road JCC. Kelly studied Early Childhood Education in college and worked as a children's photographer for 10 years prior to attending MT with her oldest son and eventually teaching MT for us. We are so grateful to her for her juggling her "dance-mom" schedule with two sons and their activities to always bring her best for her classes! (Kelly's classes are the ones that end with the children clamoring to be on her lap for the Good-bye song!)

photo Norma Difuntorum

is a Registered Music Together instructor, as well as an experienced, professional child-care provider who has been singing as a soloist and in choirs since she was a child. Norma has a degree in Business Administration and after working in Hotel Communications and as Manager of a busy NYC office, she decided to leave the stresses of the business world behind and in her words, "look for something more noble...like teaching children!!" We are so happy to have Norma on staff since spring of 2012. Her Monday morning and Thursday evening classes are a loving little community of musical "Miss Norma" fans!

He is a percussionist with a Bachelors of the Arts in Music from Kean University, as well as a freelance musician, performing in various groups in the NY/NJ area, such as the SI Philharmonic, The Giglio Band, Staten Island's GOOD NOISE, and various community theatre orchestras. He has extensive experience teaching percussion to students of all ages at a beginner- intermediate level.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Matthew currently works for On Your Mark, a nonprofit agency dedicated to serving individuals with developmental disabilities, in which he is the Shift Supervisor for a group residence for 6 individuals. This past summer, Matthew coordinated, led, and performed with a choir made up of On Your Mark clients for the Beatles Blast festival at Staten Island Yankee Stadium.
Matthew is very excited about the opportunity to teacher Music Together classes. Matt says that he hopes "the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree, and that he is half as good a teacher as his aunt Janet ;)" (Aunt Janet says he passed her a long time ago!!)
